My husband and I are both retired and close to fulfilling our life-long dream to travel this country. We bought a 32' travel trailer last year. It is a 2003 and we love it, but we quickly realized that if we were going to stay on the road for 4-6 months at a time, some things had to change!
So, after much discussion, we began our renovation project. Here is how she looked before we started: |
When we bought the trailer, we were told that it had had some water damage in the past which had been repaired. The salesman said, "There are 2 kinds of trailers, those that leak, and those that have not leaked yet!" No arguments here.
Our intention was to gut the LR slide and put in a sofa and recliner, plus remove all wallpaper, window coverings and carpet. We wanted to paint the walls, put down Allure flooring and put in drapes. We also planned to try to change the direction in which the bed lay, having it run with the length of the trailer, rather than across the width. I never did like my head being "boxed in" inside the slide. One solution we thought might work was to put in a Murphy type bed, because of course, the slide still needed room to close. I really wanted to convert the slide into clothes storage of my own design, since the closet in the bedroom was quite useless. |
