Finally, we get to begin what we started out to do, renovations! The strength in our working together is that I design and hubby implements. We have renovated our entire home this way and the trailer was no different.
One area I was most unhappy with was the storage under the sink. It was one long shelf inside, running from just inside the trailer door to the stove. I asked hubby to reconfigure that area by adding in several features to section off the area, so things would not move around in transit. These pictures show the original opening to the long shelf, followed by the enlarged opening he did, plus the pull out appliance shelf he added. This is where we will store the toaster, crockpot, and toaster oven. He also put in a false floor for the bottom shelf area, protecting the water lines, as well as getting them out of the way. |

As he worked on the rebuilding, hubby made many additions and changes. One of these was to remove our water tank and pump, since we are definitely NOT boondockers! Since the pump was stored in the storage area under the LR windows, he dropped the water lines below the subfloor, so that storage area became much more useful. He reinstalled the original top [which matches the countertops] but used a piano hinge on it to facilitate access. Now, the entire unit is available for fishing poles, brooms, flag poles and the like. MUCH better use of space!

Another thing that did not work well for me was the height of the countertop. It killed my back to do dishes, so I asked hubby if he could at least raise the sink, since we could not raise the entire counter area [like he did for me in my house!] without redoing all of the electrical on that wall. Using the table we removed, he cut the sides, made a box and dropped in a brand new double sink, each 10" deep. He used iron on edge siding to cover raw edges and painted them white to match the sinks. What an improvement!
