One of the earliest decisions I had to make in the renovation process was the colors to use. My inspiration for the color scheme came from the chair cushions for our dining table. Then, I picked the curtain material out, and my mother-in-law worked diligently to make the curtains some time in November. Today, I finally was able to hang them!
The entire process was quite detail-heavy, since I wanted to be able to pull the curtains aside easily, without having to fight them, like I had to fight the old miniblinds. We bought Levolor Clip Rings which worked great on the big windows, but unfortunately were too long for the windows in the slide. They hung down too low on the window top, since we had limited space above the windows for the hardware.
So, back to the drawing board! Fortunately, the rings were removable, so I ordered loose leaf rings which were just 1/2" in diameter and replaced them all. Talk about making your thumbs sore!
As always, hubby created the hardware from stock wood and dowels.

Here are the before and after window treatments: [a bit of improvement, if I do say so myself ;-)]
